Pillow Contest!
Eligible: Red Greyhounds and Red with White Greyhounds If this contest is popular and a success, I will do more with other coat colors!  IMPORTANT RULES, INFORMATION, AND INSTRUCTIONS This contest is for: RED GREYHOUNDS YES: color variations due to age (ex: white face due to age is fine) NO: white or brindle markings ~ and ~ RED WITH WHITE MARKINGS GREYHOUNDS YES: white toes, feet, legs, chest, tail tip, etc., and color variations due to age NO: white dogs with red spots, ticking, or with brindle markings One winner will be chosen from each of the two categories above. Entrants must be legal
residents of the United States, at least 18 years old, and the legal
owners of the dogs photographed for the contest. The dog must be
a retired racing greyhound (does not have to have raced).
Relatives and employees of Jane Walker are not eligible to participate.
Each entry must be submitted in a separate busines sized (approx. 4" x 9.5") envelope. Entrants may enter multiple times, but only once for each dog, and may enter multiple contests (multiple busines sized envelopes may be mailed in a larger one providing the individual envelopes are not folded). No entrant may win more than one Retired Racing Greyhound Portrait Pillow Contest sponsored by Jane Walker. Upon receipt by the contest assistant, each set of photos will receive an ID number which will also be placed on the envelope containing the entry form. This will be done by the assistant to maintain the anonymity of the entrants until after Jane Walker has chosen the winner(s). The assistant will also check that each entry is complete. Incomplete entries will be eliminated. The "1" numbered pillow from each contest, along with a companion booklet containing information about the dog, will be the prize awarded to the winning entrant. Estimated retail value $100.00. No subsitutions (except in case of loss of orginal prior to receipt by winner), and no other compensation will be given for the use of the winning contest submission. Jane Walker and any/all other entities involved in producing and promoting this contest and/or the manufacture of the pillows assume no liability for loss or damage of any type resulting from improper use or care of the prize, loss or damage of any type due to lost or delayed mail (except in delivery of the prize), or for any other loss or damage outside our control. The pillow is for home decor use only, it is not a dog toy. A portion of sales of Jane Walker's line of Limited Edition Greyhound Pillows amounting to not less than 20% of the sale price realized will benefit registered non-profits and/or registered charities that promote and/or support the care and adoption of former racing greyhounds. Jane Walker reserves the right to include other types of registered non-profits and/or registered charities as recipients at her discretion. The sale page decription for each pillow will specify the non-profit or charity that benefits from it. Jane Walker's line of Limited Edition Greyhound Pillows may include pillows other than those created through this or other contests. Sales of numbered Limited Edition Pillows (each including a companion booklet containing information about the dog) will benefit charities and/or non-profits of whether or not the pillows are created through contests. Jane Walker reserves the right, at her sole discretion, to limit the number of times any one charity or non-profit is selected to receive proceeds from sales of the pillows, and any charity or non-profit may receive proceeds from only one of the winning entries in each contest. Production of each pillow will be limited to 51 finished pillows. One pillow will be a preproduction proof (marked with the word "Proof") to check accuracy. This pillow will be the property of Jane Walker do do with as she chooses, and it may or may not exaclty match the pillows in the numbered edition. Any other tests of the design will be destroyed. The numbered pillows in each edition will be individually signed by Jane Walker on the unique image file used in the printing process. When all pillows in an edition have been made all image files created for the printing of the pillows will be destroyed. This contest has two parts: 1. Submissions will be checked for completeness and adherence to the rules by an assistant and assigned annonymous ID numbers. Incomplete and/or incorrect submissions will be eliminated at this point. 2. The winner will be chosen by Jane Walker based on clarity and usefulness of photos, how well the dog's appearance meets the contest parameters, and on the description of the dog written on the first photo page (see instruction sheet for suggestions). The dog's name may also be used as a consideration in choosing a winner, including, but not limited to: if there are multiple entries with the same name in any contest with two or more winners, not more than one dog with the replicated name will be chosen. Jane Walker will be the sole judge of the submitted photos and descriptions. She is the artist who will create the likeness of the winning dog and the companion booklet and supervise the printing and sewing of the finished product. The likeness of the dog will be modified to fit the pillow template and markings and color may not precisely match the winning dog. All decisions of the judge are final. By entering this contest, the winner agrees that Jane Walker has a non-exclusive copyright to use the winner’s photos and other submitted information to create, promote (including promoting this or future contests), and sell a limited edition set of pillows and accompanying informational booklet that represents the winning dog, using third parties where needed to produce the pillows and booklets, without any compensation other than that specified above. The fabric will be printed by Spoonflower in Durham, North Carolina, and sewn by independent craftspeople in the USA. Entries must be received by by mail no later than February 28, 2012. Be sure to send yours in time to meet the deadline. No late entries will be accepted. Entries become the property of Jane Walker, no notification of receipt will be issued, and no items will be returned. Personal and contact information will be used for NO other purpose than the contest for which it is submitted. Winners names will be available upon request as required by law. PHOTOS NOT NOT INCLUDE ANY IDENTIFYING INFORMATION ABOUT YOU ON THE PHOTO SHEETS. 7 photos required. Must
be clear, detailed, and show the dog in good light. Entrant must
own the copyright to the images. No copyrighted studio or
professional photos allowed unless taken by the entrant. Photos
taken by another person who is assisting the entrant in taking the
photos for the contest will be considered to have been taken by the
entrant. Entry photo sheets
must not include any copyright notices as no owner identification is
allowed.
See sample images for posing guidance. Your dog's poses should be similar, though it is understood that tails are not always amenable to posing! Just be sure it is visible in at least one photo (adding an extra photo of it is fine).  First
sheet: 2 photos
affixed to one 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper and placed so that no part of
the dog is creased when the paper is folded into a business sized
envelope: 1 photo of each side of the dog (in full profile),
showing the entire dog in the "sphinx" pose. Be sure legs and feet are visible!
If they are not visible, they cannot be drawn.
These 2 images should be approximately 4" x 6" each, and they must be printed on or affixed to the paper as shown in the example image below (do NOT include any portion of your name) on top of paper along with the following: My dog loves... (fill in). My dog does not like... (fill in). Then write 30 to 50 words about your dog's personality, abilities, and/or challenges. Humorous and/or sentimental (but not morbid) information encouraged. Do not include any identifying owner information. Text submitted may be modified for inclusion in the booklet. Second sheet: 5 photos affixed to one 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper and placed so that no part of the dog is creased when the paper is folded into a business sized envelope. Dog may be standing. 1 photo of the dog from behind showing back and rump. 1 photo showing the face from the front. 1 photo of the dog from the front showing the neck and chest with NO COLLAR. 2 profile photos (1 of each side) including the entire shoulders, neck, and head with NO COLLAR. They should be printed on or affixed to the paper approximately as shown in the example image below. Print dog's name at of paper the same way it appears on the first photo page.   Tip: check that all parts of your dog are represented in the photos--the tail, for instance, can get cut off or tucked behind/under other parts, so be sure that it appears clearly in at least one image. Include an extra photo of the tail if necessary. 2. PROOF OF OWNERSHIP Provide a copy of an adoption, veterinary, or other official document that includes your name and the name, color, and sex of the dog. A signed letter from your adoption group or your veterinarian on their official letterhead stating the dog is yours is sufficient if it includes your name and the name, color, and sex of the dog. 3.
