How to Photograph Marbles

MY MARBLE PHOTOGRAPHY SET-UP
BLACK PAINTED BOX WITH HOLES TO SHINE LIGHTS THROUGH
2 CLIP-ON DESK LAMPS
HINGED SCAFFOLD TO CLIP LAMPS ONTO
CARD TABLE TO SET IT ALL ON
CAMERA TRIPOD
(Nikon Coolpix 995 digital camera not shown)

Finally found a practical use for the sybaritic bathroom, too!

ANOTHER VIEW OF THE BOX
There are many holes so that any marble
can be lit to show it to it's best advantage.
CLOSE-UP OF INTERIOR OF BOX
The black color absorbs light and prevents
extra reflections on the marble
Box made of foam core cardboard
Pad of black velour to set marble on
(need to make a grey pad, too)

MARBLE PHOTOGRAPHED WITH THIS SET-UP
Required only re-sizing and a slight contrast adjustment
(done in Adobe Photoshop)
